The Al-Khaledin Memorial project was established within the historic cemetery district of Salah Salem in Cairo, an area containing hundreds of heritage and archaeological tombs that form an integral part of Egypt’s history, narrating important historical periods spanning over a thousand years. As the area undergoes development and new road infrastructure, numerous significant tombs are being relocated to alternative sites with careful evaluation and planning.
The Al-Khaledin Memorial is designed as a grand state-of-the-art complex to serve as a tourist destination and monumental landmark housing the remains of Egypt’s greatest leaders and iconic figures who made outstanding contributions to the nation’s advancement. Visitors can explore the history of these leaders and understand the magnitude of their contributions to the country. This initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to honoring its historical figures and preserving its rich heritage in a manner befitting their status, using modern techniques and methods for proper relocation and preservation.
