Located to the north of Al-Azhar&#8217;s main western entrance, the school represented the jewel of adjacent educational institutions and enjoyed continuous attention from students of knowledge throughout its history. It was famous among Cairo&#8217;s residents for teaching and disseminating sciences, particularly the Shafi&#8217;i and Hanafi schools of Islamic jurisprudence, attracting students from across Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time, the school suffered from the effects of aging. Khedive Ismail ordered its renovation and restoration.
