The Baron Palace Restoration and Adaptive Reuse project involved the comprehensive rehabilitation of the iconic Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, Cairo. This unique Hindu-inspired architectural masterpiece, built in the early 20th century, underwent extensive structural rehabilitation, interior restoration, and exterior conservation. MCG implemented specialized techniques to preserve the palace’s distinctive architectural elements while preparing it for its new function as a cultural exhibition space showcasing the history of Heliopolis and its founder, Baron Empain.
The restoration work began in 2017 after comprehensive studies and was completed in 2020 with a total investment of approximately 200 million Egyptian pounds. The project addressed the palace’s structural deterioration, restored its original decorative features, and equipped it with modern facilities suitable for exhibitions and cultural events, transforming it into a vibrant landmark that honors its historical significance while serving the local community.
